You start right here at 3rd Row Designs. We are a full service web design company offering you a custom designed site or a pre-designed starter site. Contact us and we will support you in making the best decision to get what you want.

We encourage you to look around at other design companies. We know we are one of the best and we want you to be satisfied. To find other design companies we suggest you do an Internet search.

Also many hosting companies offer free space and free templates that let you design your own web site.

Another good place to start is to ask a friend where they got their site and if they are satisfied.

Also take a look around the Internet and if you see a web site you like you can usually find the name of the design company-then visit their site. You can also do a search on the Internet to find design companies. In the end, most web site designers get their customers the old fashion way-by personal referral.

Use our Starter Site application. In just a few hours we can have a site up and running for you.

Visit places like Google, Yahoo and other large Internet Service Providers because many offer templates and give you tutorials to create your own site. You need to do the design work and if you have experience or have the time these can work well. I'll be honest, if you are a novice templates can be challenging.

That's easy, if you are asking this question chances are you want a web site. A web site is a great way to communicate. You can tell people about your business, any services you offer, you can sell products, teach a class, send a newsletter and much much more. In the future everyone will have a web site and it will be a source of communication and connection. There a major social networking sites like Facebook, My Space, and Twitter that provide social networking on a grand scale. We think there is nothing like having your own site to publish and share what is important to you.

This is a tough question and I think the answer lies in what the purpose of your site is. Find out if your friend is educated in the principles of web design and knows how to build a site using good design principles. There are lots of "geek's" out there that know how to develop a site but they haven't been educated in the principles of good design. If the web site you want is for business I highly recommend that you get a professional web designer to develop your site. Bottom line- it is never a good idea to mix friends/family with business. If you decide to use a friend try and step out of that friendship and make it a business partnership.

A domain name tells you who owns the web site and it sets the stage for the content of your site. You buy a domain name from a number of different companies. Shop around to compare prices. We don't endorse any domain name companies but some of the common ones are Register.com, NetworkSolutions.com. It is easy to buy a domain name and if you visit the site of a domain name company they will walk you through the process. Choosing the right domain for your site is very important so work with the web designer to get the right one. If you already have a domain name, the web designer will help you maximize the exposure of that name.

A hosting company is where your web site will reside after it is designed. There are many different type of hosting companies but the most common type of hosting is called "shared" hosting which means you are given space on their servers. There is a difference in hosting companies so be careful. Do your own research or your web site designer can help guide you in the process. You will want to know how often the sites they host are "down". How is their technical support? Do they support various functions? What is their financial viability-you don't want to sign on and then have them go under financially.

Free sites usually use templates which will require you to become a customer of the company who is offering them. You will need to create the site and unless you are an expert at web design or using templates it will probably take you more than 30 minutes to create your site. Templates are limited in what they offer and they are hosted at the company that provides them.

When you pay for one of our custom sites or one of our starter sites, you are getting the expertise of our web design experience and you will get a site that is designed using good design principles.

Do you have a file cabinet in your office or home? If yes, then think of a web site as a drawer in that file cabinet. Inside each drawer are files that relate to the content of the drawer. For example, you may have a drawer for recipes and then inside that drawer there are files of recipes for cakes, cookies, pot roasts, etc. To translate that into web talk-a web site is an accumulation of related pages that can be found on the Internet. Each web site has a home page called an index page. This is the first page you see when you get on the Internet and go to a specific web site.

The Internet is a collection of many many computers all over the world that store information and send it out. When you connect to the Internet from your computer you are jumping onto the Internet Freeway. Your computer serves as an access point on the virtual highway.

To be able to view web pages everyone needs a browser which is software that enables you to go to your computer and log on to view web pages. A browser lets you see graphics, color, links, and much more. There are many browsers. The most popular is Internet Explorer because it comes installed on most personal computers. Computer savvy people often prefer different browsers like Firefox, Mosaic, Opera, or Netscape. Internet Service Providers may also provide their own browsers with AOL and Yahoo being great examples of this. Most browser software is free and can be downloaded easily-just go to the web site of the browser you want to try and look for the down load button.
